The Ida Clark

Fluevog shoes regularly hosts creative contests for releases of new lines of shoes. This was for the Ida Clark Bellevue, a retro black and white pinstriped button up ankle boot. The prize is a published ad and $1000 Fluevog bucks... I was one of 3 finalists and finished as a runner up.

A variation. My concept involved the creation of an 8" marionette. I felt that because this shoe has a human name, it needs to be depicted with as much human personality as possible. In my mind Ida is a demure, fashionable and adventurous pioneer woman, a poised and beautiful oasis in the dusty west.

The planning stages- character sketches and construction.

Ida's parts painted and ready for assembly.
